Hello Chowstars, Denise here! Today on Try Outs, I'll be checking out Oso Lounge, Abuja.
Oso Lounge is a fine dining restaurant located in the heart of the Federal Capital Territory, and its menu is truly exciting! It serves a wide variety of local and continental cuisines as well as exciting fusion foods. I found myself eyeing several menu items like their Churros & Chocolate Dip, Shrimp Boil Foil Pack, and Salmon and Mushroom Risotto, but I decided to keep it simple. I settled on three meals - a Classic Chicken Caesar Salad, Crispy Fried Calamari, and Spicy Catfish Pepper Soup.

Classic Chicken Caesar Salad and Crispy Fried Calamari - NGN 6,500 and 5,200 respectively
The Classic Chicken Caesar Salad contains crispy lettuce, grilled boneless chicken breast strips, seasoned croutons, and grated parmesan cheese, with a creamy caesar salad dressing.

Classic Chicken Caesar Salad and Crispy Fried Calamari
The vegetables were crisp, bright, and fresh, and the croutons were nicely flavoured and crunchy. Although the salad dressing was flavourful, I wish it was a bit thicker. I prefer thicker dressings.
The salad came in a cardboard food box, and so, it can be eaten anywhere and easily stored for later. The dressing came in a small condiment cup, so I recommend tossing it in the salad before keeping for later.
Now, let's talk about portions. I certainly wish Oso Lounge was more generous with this meal. To me, it leaves more to be desired, especially considering its price point. I don't mind paying much for a salad because I'm a salad girlie, but I'd appreciate more value for my money spent. You get me?
I decided to toss the calamari into the salad to give it some more body, and I quite enjoyed it! The warm, fried calamari complemented the salad quite well! it was soft, well flavoured, and came with its own special sauce.

Spicy Catfish Pepper Soup - NGN 5,500
The Spicy Catfish Pepper Soup was paired with boiled Irish potatoes and I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty this was!

Spicy Catfish Pepper Soup
I've never tried boiled Irish potatoes with pepper soup, and I think this is a truly amazing combination. The soft, creamy texture of the potatoes blended perfectly with the spicy, flavourful pepper soup. If you like particularly peppery pepper soup, this might not be ideal for you.
Just like the salad, the pepper soup came in a cardboard food box, and unfortunately, I didn't think that was ideal for this meal. If you're looking to eat your pepper soup as soon as you receive your meal, then you might be able to work with the packaging. However, if you're looking to keep this for later, the packaging might not be ideal.

At its price point, the portion here is just enough to satisfy you, especially if you've been nursing a craving.
